Twinsie Tuesday: Sweet 16

Ya know, I don't think teenagers get enough credit these days. They have a lot more style than I did when I was younger.

Today we are wearing something a teenager would rock. I chose a polish that is fun yet still has depth. Meet KB Shimmer Diva, a beautiful polish I won in a giveaway from my dear friend Marisa.

Diva is a purple jelly polish loaded with multicolored holographic glitter. I used two coats.

L'Oreal The Perfect Trench

Today's quick swatch is a beautiful dusty mustard creme, L'Oreal The Perfect Trench.

I'm guessing the name comes from the color's resemblance to trench coats. The formula was a little tricky, and it dried a bit uneven. A quick coat of top coat fixed these problems.

The Perfect Trench is from L'Oreal's London Fall Collection from 2012. Although it makes a great Fall shade, I would wear this year round.

Twinsie Tuesday: Fruit Mani

Ever since I was introduced to Fimo sticks (even though I still don't own any), I never really understood the fruit nail art craze. Sure it's cute, but I'm a veggie girl myself.

I'll use that excuse to introduce my very pathetic fruit nail art today for this Twinsie Tuesday's theme.

For my pointer finger, I drew two lemons with Nail Candy Nail Art pens and dotting tools. Yes, those are supposed to be lemons. For the next two nails, I put on two coats of Candy Lacquer Fruit Salad (it's name alone proves I didn't cheat), and those are grapes on my pinky. The base for all nails is Essie Marshmallow

Let's hope next week's theme isn't as challenging.

In the meanwhile, check out these (overachieving) Twinsies:

Lynnderella Connect the Dots

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great Easter.

For my Easter mani I went with a pastel yellow base, Orly Lemonade. I then added two coats of the classic Lynnderella Connect the Dots.

What did you wear for Easter?

Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Color

It's that time for Twinsie Tuesday again and the theme today is favorite color. I love "challenges" like these because they give you so much freedom.

I could never just pick one color, so I went with several. My absolute favorite color of all time is green, so I went with American Apparel Hunter as the base. Next I added on two coats of Candy Lacquer Sweet Metal, a silver and gold glitter polish in a clear base with many different shapes and sizes.

Sweet Metal was a royal pain in the ass to apply. The base was thick and I had a hard time placing the glitter all around, but I really feel like it was worth it. I love the way gold and silver look mixed together.

I can't wait to see the other favorite colors picked by the twinsies today. Check out their posts here:

Sinful Colors Cotton Candy

Before this post starts, just a quick reminder to ENTER MY GIVEAWAY.

More info here.

Today is a quick swatch of Sinful Colors Cotton Candy from the recent Sugar Rush collection for Spring 2013.

This is two easy coats of Cotton Candy, a carnation pink creme.

Cotton Candy went on a little thick, but it dries super glossy, making it worth it in my book.

Did you pick up any of the new Sinful Colors spring shades?

Twinsie Tuesday: Copy-Cat Mani Take 2

It's Tuesday again and this post is late. My sincerest apologies!

Today's post is another copy-cat mani, and this time I got Maribeth from Obsessive Cosmetics Hoarders Unite! I just love her, and I couldn't be more excited to copy her cute Valentine's day mani found here.

Maribeth used a neutral base. I'm using Zoya Cho. And a medium red for the oversized heart, I used Essie First Dance.  This designe was super fun!

She took is one more step by adding some awesome red glitter on top of her mani. This step sent me for a loop--I was positive I didn't have a sparse red glitter polish. Alas I finally found an un-named Nicole by OPI mini that fit the part.

I'd have to say that Maribeth is still the expert on this mani--I hope that I did it half the justice it deserves!

American Apparel Hunter

Just a quick swatch for you guys today.

This is American Apparel Hunter, the polish that made me decide I didn't really need RBL Recycle, which I ended up swapping out. Can you sense my regret? Not because Hunter doesn't do it for me in the dark green department, but because I'm basically a hoarder.

I only used one coat, but I wish I would've used two judging by the pulling I can see in these photos.

Hunter is a dark green creme polish and the formula isn't bad, isn't great. What I really love about this shade is that it's obviously green--not almost black like a lot of dark green polishes. I will say if you're using a dark green such as this one make sure you double up on base coat, and try not to flood those cuticles!

Hope everyone has a great hump day! If you haven't already, make sure you enter my current giveaway featuring two Maybelline lip colors and a Lynnderella--found here.
